Garni Temple
Garni is one of the most popular first-day stops in Armenia thanks to its Greco-Roman temple, surrounding hills, and easy pairing with Geghard.
Garni is one of the easiest places to recommend because it offers a strong visual landmark without a long transfer. The temple looks dramatic against the dry hills, and the route is simple enough for travelers with limited time.
It usually works best together with Geghard monastery and, if the pace allows, a local food or lavash-making stop. For many visitors this becomes the ideal first excursion after arriving in Armenia.
